Three Books for Each Hogwart’s House

Happy Harry Potter Book Night! yes, you read that right. If you didn’t know that was a thing, here in the UK, the 7^th of February is officially Harry Potter Book Night. Here’s the link and everything:

So, to celebrate, I thought it might be fun to recommend some books for each of the Hogwart’s houses. If you don’t know your house, then head over to Pottermore and find out! I’m a Gryffindor apparently. I had kind of hoped to be a Slytherin… Or even a Hufflepuff. They’re the nicest people!

I’m sorry Ravenclaw’s, but I just knew I wasn’t one of you.

Anyway, I’m getting side-tracked. Here are three books that I think people from each Hogwart’s house will enjoy…

Gryffindor

Gryffindor’s are brave – and a little reckless – so they will probably enjoy books about courage in the face of adversity and adventure. The central characters display courage in all sorts of ways throughout these books, and for the reckless side of Gryffindors, there is an adventure element to these stories as well!

Slytherin

Slytherins are ambitious and cunning – and a little morally-ambiguous. For this reason, I have picked books with a slightly darker edge to them, and that have plenty of twists and turns and are full of grey characters over clearly defined heroes and villains.

Hufflepuff

As the most inclusive of the houses, Hufflepuff value honesty, fairness and loyalty. I’ve picked books where these traits are on-display, or have tried to anyway. Being kind and strong-friendships are central to all of these books.

Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw house is all about those smarts! They value intelligence, knowledge and creativity. So, I have picked a bunch of textbooks… Or not! I’ve tried to pick books where the characters value the same things as Ravenclaws. Alternatively, the book can teach you something while also being entertaining!
