2021 Book Badge Challenge

2021 is nearly here! Now normally, at this time of year, I start to think about my reading and blog goals for the next year, but this year I am going to try and do something a bit different, something a bit more fun. I’ll still stick up a Goodreads goal, but otherwise I am pretty much just going to read for fun. I’ll pick up what I want and feel like, when I want. No thinking about how many different genres I have read from or how many books I have re-read.

However, last weekend Alex over at Spells & Spaceships unleashed a collection of virtual book badges upon the world – and look at them! They’re fantastic!

That is the whole collection, so there are a good few to have a go at collecting. Read a cool A.I. book? There is a book badge for that! Read something with a BIG battle in? Badge for that! Read an awesome debut novel? There is a badge for that too! If you manage to collect all of them (I probably won’t) then you get a special collectors badge too!

Now, to stop people collecting the whole collection in a handful of books, there is a rule here:

The only rule is that one book can only earn you one badge, so choose wisely and complete your collection!

So, lets look at this rule in a practical aspect. Say I have just finished The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter. Well that could get me a few badges if it wasn’t for the rule. I’d get The Dragon Badge, The African Inspiration Badge, The Big Battle Badge and The Debut Badge. As you can see, you could really fly through the collection if it wasn’t for the rule. So I need to pick carefully which badge I want each book to count for.

If you want to find out more about the collection and what all the badges are, then go check out Alex’s explanation and unveiling post over on his blog here.

Plus, if I do this, I can pretend to be the book version of a Pokémon Master Trainer!
